Instant, speed is the change in advancement, which humanity has experienced so far in this age of rapid development.

Whether it is in the field of transportation, or in rapid diffusion of information, speed decides everything. The internet has made tremendous contributions in transmitting data, the innovation of broadband has also made a mark to carry out the given task in a fraction of seconds. Sometimes people working long hours and having less free time to think, forget what instant access broadband can do to change their lives over night.

This site gives you all the information about various services and their related technology, its providers, cost and everything you’ll need to know. Run through the site now, and learn more about broadband, broadband internet, broadband wireless and more importantly…. why you should have it!

Generally, it is defined as a high-speed, high-capacity transmission medium that helps in transmitting large amounts of data in the form of signals from multiple independent network carriers. Furthermore, in network engineering the term is used to mention the method that allows two or more signals to share a medium simultaneously. This transmission is normally done on a single coaxial or fiber – optic cable by establishing different bandwidth channels. Broadband service can support a wide range of frequencies and helps in transmitting data, voice and video over long distances. It not only helps in their transmission but also aims to have a high speed, high quality, low cost and an easy to use Internet connection at home.

Types:

Broadband services are delivered mainly through telephone lines, cable connections, via one or two way satellite systems and even by radio. Based on its mode of transmission, broadband is classified further into four main types:

- The Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL)
- Cable Broadband Service
- Satellite Broadband Service
- Wireless Broadband Service

ADSL is unique with its typical characteristic style to transmit data in one direction than the other. It primarily uses an analogue modulation scheme, unlike others using band technology based modulation. With Cable Broadband the transmission is basically carried with the help of an Ethernet modem for accessing internet services through the cable. It also provides a lot of broadband solutions to everyone. Satellite broadband on the other hand is very reliable, since it can be used from almost anywhere. They also come in two different types namely the “one-way” and “two-way” connections. Similarly, Wireless Broadband uses an arrangement of fixed antennas that allows the user to have access with high speed Internet connections over the air. They deliver fast Internet access by means of radio waves as a replacement for cables or wires.

Benefits:

There are good many reasons to consider having broadband. They provide a great help both in your home as well as in your office. Being at least 10 times faster than conventional dial-up connections, they assist in your business, giving service reports, increased sales, greater cost savings, better productivity, improved employee satisfaction and by providing a overall healthier bottom line result. Moreover, they help in going global with your own interactive website, and multiple email addresses provided for a more efficient web service.

Similarly, in your home it helps by allowing you to have permanent connection to the web through an Always-on facility that avoids the need to dial up every time you want to surf the web or send an e-mail. With broadband in your home, you don’t need a second line to make and take phone calls even when you are online. In addition, they have fixed monthly charges to lessen the burden of extras and may offer other options, including the pay-as-you-go scheme.

Believe it or not! Broadband is and always, going to be the cheapest online option for the coming generations and also the tool for the future!

bandwidth management router

Bandwidth management and allied products have increased greatly in demand, and have become one of the focal areas of online businesses worldwide. This has been encouraged mostly because of the fact that the Internet has become almost mandatory to all commercial and personal enterprises. Therefore, bandwidth management products, which considerably enhance and modulate the Internet speed and networking efficiency, have become an irreplaceable part of companies’ requirement lists. A lot of companies have hence come up, both in the real world as well as online, that specialize in bandwidth management products. Some of these are based in the UK, with one of the premier companies in this league being Xrio. The brand has come up with a number of Unified Bandwidth Management (UBM) products, which have been popular and equally effective in the arena of failover and link aggregation. Their products have been revolutionary, bringing about a real change in the way people have viewed the bandwidth management tools and applications till date.

The success of Xrio can be reasoned because of two very crucial factors. One is the ever increasing gap between demand and supply in this arena of technological products. The other is the fact that the company has been involved in providing such bandwidth management products for the last six years. Xrio products support a range of link aggregation (2 to 64) and the same helps in network load balancing, ISP and VPN router bonding. Inbound and outbound bonding as well as the management of QoS applications can be controlled from a single online user interface. The launch of a range of products in the initial part of this year, which includes the likes of the revised and replenished classic UBM, the brand new UBMi or the virtual platform of V-Bond has also added considerably to the already existing brand image of Xrio. Based in Leeds, the company offers to triple or even quadruple the traffic capacity for networks by inserting UBM into it through a transparent process.

Xrio also helps in ISP or VPN bonding that enhances the efficiency of the respective network. The UBMi, launched by the Xrio itself, has all the features offered by the classic UBM, but can also incorporate about 2 to 4 DSL circuits, eliminating the requirement for extra routers or modems. The multi-port ADSL, as a result, has become one of the most sought after products in the bandwidth management industry today, much akin to the earlier versions if the Dual WAN routers. The speeds have improved greatly, with the standard speed of 800k going up to over 3.2Meg with the help of our UBMi range! Additionally, the V-Bond, offered by the same company, is specifically targeted at service providers. For those who wish to provide their customers with a dedicated, efficient and state-of-the-art link aggregation technology, V-Bond seems to be the ultimate solution. With Hypervisors like Citrix Xen, VMWare and MS Virtual Server collaborating, V-Bond takes the minimum possible time to install – maximizing the data centre and hardware resource capabilities of the network.

Xrio has made bandwidth management and its elements (namely network load balancing, VPN router and Dual WAN router bonding, among others) a cakewalk, and the popularity of their products seems to vindicate the fact!

broadband cable amplifier

You may have already seen several households all around the United States, especially in rural areas, with compact satellite dishes hovering on their rooftops. That means these households have satellite TV and are enjoying the services of satellite TV companies.

Satellite TV is another way of delivering television programming to the viewers. Satellite TV is a lot similar to broadcast television. Both of them transmit programming with the use of radio signals. However, there are some limitations to broadcast television.

Broadcast TV vs. Satellite TV

Broadcast stations make use of a powerful antenna to transmit radio waves to the surrounding area within a specific range. The viewers of broadcast TV have a smaller antenna to pick up these signals transmitted by the station.

However, the smaller antenna should be in the direct line of sight of the station’s antenna to be able to receive a good signal. The signal received is also often distorted unless the receiver is very near the transmitting station.

Satellite TV companies, on the other hand, have a solution to the range and distortion problems of broadcast TV. Satellite TV transmits broadcast signals through satellites orbiting the Earth. Since these satellites are situated high in the sky, there are definitely more receivers in the line of sight of the transmitted signal.

How Satellite TV Works?

Satellite TV systems make use of satellite dishes which are specialized antennas to transmit and receive radio signals.

The communication satellites used in satellite TV are launched into space at about 37,000 km above the Earth’s surface at the speed of around 11,000 kph. With this speed and altitude, the satellite can keep pace with the Earth’s movement exactly which means it revolves around the Earth once every 24 hours.

The satellites are also in geosynchronous orbit which means they stay in a single location in the sky relative to the earth. Thus, the satellite dish needs to be directed at the satellite once as long as everything works fine.

Satellite TV starts with a transmitting antenna situated at an uplink facility. The uplink satellite dishes are directed at the satellite to transmit signals to as much as 9 to 12 meters in diameter. The bigger the diameter, the more improved the reception will be at the satellite. The signal is transmitted to transponders on-board the satellite, which retransmit the signal back to the Earth using a different frequency.

The satellite TV signal is quite weak due to travel in space. However, this signal, once collected by the parabolic satellite dish, is down-converted to a lower frequency band then amplified using a low-noise block down-converter, or LNB.

Types of Satellite TV Distribution

There are two primary kinds of satellite TV distribution, namely television receive-only (TVRO) and direct broadcast satellite (DBS).

Television receive-only satellite is a satellite TV reception device based on open standards equipment. This type is often referred to as the big dish satellite TV. TVRO systems more often use larger satellite dishes since a C-band setup is more common to owners of this system, although it is designed to receive signals both from C-band and K u-band satellite TV signals.

Direct broadband satellite TV is also known as “direct to home”. DBS systems are also referred to as the “minidish” systems as it uses the small satellite dish that we commonly see around. This system uses the upper portion of the K u-band.

Satellite TV is getting more popular nowadays. It can be a good alternative to the regular broadcast TV or the more common cable TV.

virgin broadband xbox live
Virgin Mobile Broadband Speeds?

Hi,

I have the Virgin mobile broadband 5gb internet with the little usb modem. Now, in the virgin store, as we were buying the modem I asked him what speed was he getting, and he said im getting about 3mb/s and thats through all this concrete (we were in a multi storey shopping centre). Since Ive goten this internet deal, the absolute maximum speed ive ever goten was about 500KB, thats it. I know tons of people have these problems. But I live in a central of a town with full bar connection and HSDPA. (I think its HSDPA like that). Is there anyway I can improve this, I want to get back into xbox live, so I need a speed of at least 1mb per sec for no lag national connection.

Thanks,

Aidan.

5mb is theoretically possible over HSDPA, but i’ve never known anyone to get anywhere near this, most of the time it drops to 3g and then i get around 400k, i’ve spoken to the provider, but they just tell me its the area i’m using it in, i think much like phone type bb connections they advertise the absolute maximum speed and then you much less, its a pain, but there is nothing to stop them advertising as “upto 5mb speed”
