unlimited bandwidth internet

Bandwidth stands for the amount of data that has been transferred from your web space. If simply told, bandwidth is the diameter of a water pipe and data transfer is the amount of water that flows through it. If you have many data being transferred, choose a high bandwidth plans.

Many website hosting companies declare to offer “unlimited bandwidth” as part of their hosting packages. In actual fact, there is no truth behind it. There’s no such thing as “Unlimited Bandwidth”.
In reality, it is very rare to come across any broadband company offering an internet connection as “unlimited megabytes per second.” From this fact, the reality can be judged behind the statement of a web hosting company that claims to customers that it will give them “Unlimited Bandwidth”. But it usually doesn’t even own its own access lines. It also has to be considered in case of a hard disk with unlimited disk space.
Just consider, if you can get unlimited bandwidth for $25-30 a month then why aren’t big companies like Sun, Microsoft etc. not hosted there? In fact, why isn’t everyone hosted there? For that matter, if unlimited is a standard feature then why don’t all website hosting companies offer it? Is it because the hardware is expensive? No, it’s because some hosts are honest and don’t give in to such gimmicks.

There are many ways you can be deceived by these ‘ unlimited’ hosts. Several newly started hosts use it to cheat people. They take your money and after a few months when their server starts to become slow or reaches its limit, they run with your money!

The secret of ‘unlimited’ is actually hidden in the Terms of Service by the host. Unlimited generally equals 900mb only or so.

The host may restrict the kind of files that you can host on their server. Generally image galleries and audio/video files attract a lot more downloads thereby resulting in higher bandwidth consumption. So if there are no files of this type, your site won’t really require a lot of bandwidth.

A number of hosts mention in their Terms of Service that people can access unlimited bandwidth as long as you require. But they set a standard bandwidth. If your site goes over that limit they either may charge extra for it or cut off your download on the whole.

Generally, high bandwidth sites on these “Unlimited” plans are disconnected, and no refund given. Sometimes it finishes up with a large bill at the end of the month that they had not told on. Normally, the web hosting company will simply say that the site violated its Acceptable Use Policy or Terms of Service.

The best work is to plan ahead. To get high bandwidth and data transfer is not impossible. But you have to pay extra fees for it.

If your disk space and bandwidth requirements are very low then you can take an unlimited hosting plan. But if, you have an ecommerce site or a site that you expect to grow in size and bandwidth in future, do not accept any plans that offer unlimited bandwidth or disk space.
